Eagles wrap up successful run in Smoky Mountain Cup

Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagle soccer team has a successful run in the Smoky Mountain Cup with a second place in their bracket this week.
The Eagles claimed a pair of wins to go with one loss.
Shelbyville Central rolled past  Wren, South Carolina 5-1 with goals from Ryan Tacuba, Jake Betzelberger, Yahir Cervantes, Jared Taylor, and Daniel Torres.
The Eagles fell 3-0 to Hewitt-Trussville, Ala. who was ranked third in the Alabama state rankings.
In their final game they defeated Grace Christian Academy of Franklin 1-0.  
“Grace Christian were the D2-A state champions over the past few years,”
Eagle coach Chris Fritz said.  
Jake Betzelberger scored the lone goal for Shelbyville Central.
“This tournament always brings out the best in our team and we look forward to district play starting next week with Franklin County on the road,” Fritz said.
