FAYETTEVILLE — Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eaglette soccer team claimed a big win on the road with a 2-0 victory over Lincoln County in a District 8-AAA contest on Thursday night.
Abby Hittle scored off a quick passing combo about 13 seconds into the match.
Freshman Paige Blackburn added another to the tally before the close of the half for the 2-0 lead, which proved to be the final margin of victory.
“We continued to have the run of play and find a number of shots, but didn’t finish our chances. I am really proud of how our team responded to the challenge of losing a big district game at the beginning of the week,” Shelbyville coach Chris Fritz said.
“Midfielders Sharaid Palmeros and Jocelyn Hayitin really set a high tempo of passing and movement that we need to continue to build from.”
The Eaglettes (4-4-1, 3-1-1) entertain Lincoln County on Thursday at 7 p.m.
