Smoke was visible for miles Friday afternoon when fire broke out in two barns at M & L Greenhouse, Benford Road.
Marty and Richard Davis of M & L said they were unsure of the fire’s origin. Richard Davis said an employee suddenly came into the main greenhouse building and told him a barn had caught fire. The greenhouse itself is undamaged.
No one was injured, Richard Davis said. One calf being kept in a barn perished.
Hay and wood were being kept in the barnsm along with the calf, Richard Davis said, Crews from three Bedford County Fire Department stations responded.
