Gary Lynn “Bubba” Black, age 66, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021. 

Gary worked as a firefighter in Murfreesboro for 10 years. He also worked at Bridgestone in La Vergne for 23 years until he was injured on the job, never missed a day, he was loyal to his job. 

Preceded in death by parents Arvis and Lena Black; brothers Vanice, Arvis Jay, Floyd, Doug, David and Jessie Black; sisters Francis Winfrey, Virginia Hackney and Shirley Black. 

Survived by wife Patricia Black; children Amy Black Mendez, Katie Black Sapon; step-daughters Teresa Peoples and Monica Peoples; grandchildren Austin Mendez, Anna Mendez, Lacey Sapon, Angelica Mendez, Angelina Mathews and Matalena Mathews; great-grandchildren Jessie Teal, Bobbi Lee Peoples, Garrett Peoples, 2 step-great-grandchildren Aubree Teal and Grayson Teal; brother Tommy Black; sisters Arizona Baskin and Marilyn Bolin. 

Bubba was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He loved fishing, yard sales, flea markets, playing guitar, and singing. But most of all he loved the Lord. 

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
