At least one person was injured early Thursday morning in a head-on accident on Highway 41A North in front of the Dollar General Store in El Bethel. A family member said Brian Lee Wade, driver of the car in the first picture, was told he was fortunate to have survived the crash. The Tennessee Highway Patrol had not responded to a request for additional information by press time.
UPDATE
Oscar Velazquez Roblero, 28, has been charged with DUI, vehicular assault, and reckless endangerment, the THP said.
Velazquez, driving a Nissan SUV, crossed the center line and ran head-on into a Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Brian Wade, 24, after initially striking an SUV driven by Stephen Vandergriff, 56, according to the THP.
Wade was injured by the impact; Velazquez and Vandergriff escaped injury.
The Velazquez and Wade vehicles are the ones pictured.
