Janet Adeline Troyer, a long-time resident of Shelbyville, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
She and her husband, Tom, raised three children and built a successful business (Interstate Battery for 44 years) while living on their beloved farm. A dedicated mother and wife, family was extremely important and Janet loved spending time with them. She also enjoyed her horses, donkeys and dogs and traveling with her husband. An accomplished artist, she showed her love of the outdoors and animals through her vibrant paintings.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Janet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas John Troyer; her children, Stacy Rene (Jay) Royalty of Collierville, Micah John (Dana) Troyer of Turner, Maine and Jason Thomas (Charity) Troyer of Shelbyville; her brother, Michael John Murphy of Johnson City; and her nine grandchildren, Trey Royalty, Katie Royalty, Zach Troyer, Tessa Troyer, Nick White, Lily Troyer, Harry Troyer, Abby Troyer and Samantha Troyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennett John Murphy and Amelia Yach Murphy, and a sister, Virginia McGill.
