Funeral service for Janie Elizabeth Hooker Molder, age 85, of Shelbyville, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Molder passed from this life Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Carriage House after an extended illness.

Visitation will be held Sunday, prior to funeral service beginning 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born, July 13, 1937 in Shelbyville, TN Janie Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Joseph Virgil & Era Mai Barber Hooker. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by beloved husband; Harry Cecil Molder of 63 years, daughter; Valery Jane Pittman son in law; Allan Harris, and brothers; Tommy and Larry Hooker.

Mrs. Molder received a master’s degree from MTSU and served as the guidance counselor at Tennessee Vocational School for over 30 years where she retired in 1997. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, studying her Bible, cooking and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a faithful member of Maxwell Chapel Methodist Church.

Survived by: daughters, Teresa (James) Wheeler, Karen Harris; son in law, Rick Pittman; seven grandchildren, Dana (Jamie) Bobo, Diana (Mark) Nevills, Deana (Ricky) Stackpole, Bradley (Emily) Pittman, Allison (Alan) Woodard, Megan (Bradley) Adcock and A.J. (Kayla) Harris; 20 great grandchildren Savannah, Tessa and Caz Bobo, Cole Ian, Hannah Mai and Ella Kate Nevills, Abram and Verity Stackpole, Madi, Kali, and Kyler Pittman, Ayden, Ace and Addy Woodard, Izzy and Ben McClanahan, Harry Adcock, Paislee and Jax Harris; sisters, Marie Blackburn, Barbara (Bill) Gregory, Cherry (Claude) Smith ; brother, Gary (Patsy) Hooker; and in-laws, Mabel Sue Burton, Dottie Molder, Ina Molder, Carolyn Molder, Roy (Carol) Molder, Gene (Betty) Molder Shirley McKee, Joan Hooker and Judy Hooker.
