CORNERSVILLE — All it took was one goal for the Cascade Lady Champions to pick up a much-needed District 6-A win on Monday evening, knocking off Cornersville, 1-0.
Cascade had plenty of chances with several shots on goal, but was unable to crack through the Cornersville defense through over 60 minutes of regulation.
That finally went Cascade's way in the 65th minute when Angelina Rodriguez blasted a shot to the back of the net with an assist by Eve Speirs.
That lone goal proved to be the game-winner for the Lady Champs.
“I am proud of my girls. These games have not been pretty, but we have gotten the wins we needed from them,” coach Zack Spears said.
Cascade will be back on the road Tuesday evening with another road match at MTCS.
