The Tony Rice Center on Railroad Avenue plans to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Lokey House, a recovery residence that has provided hope, stability, and opportunity to individuals continuing their journey of recovery in the Shelbyville community.
Since opening its doors in 2025, Lokey House has offered residents far more than housing, according to TRC Clinical Director Sam Hillis. “It has become a place where individuals are encouraged to live with purpose while focusing on healing, personal growth, and rebuilding their lives. The home provides a supportive environment where residents can strengthen their spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing while setting and achieving meaningful goals.”
Hillis said that over the past year, 28 individuals who have lived at Lokey House have successfully joined the workforce and become productive members of the community. Many residents have secured steady employment, developed healthy routines, became a part of support networks, and began restoring relationships with their families. The culture within the home has also fostered service and accountability. Residents regularly support one another through the challenges of early recovery and often spend time at TRC’s main facility to encourage individuals currently in treatment.
“We are witnessing people rise, recover, and reclaim their lives,” said Hillis. “They just needed people to love them until they learned how to love themselves.”
As Lokey House marks its first anniversary, the Tony Rice Center celebrates the lives that have been changed and the continued impact recovery can have on individuals and the community as a whole. With support, the organization hopes to continue offering opportunities for individuals seeking a safe and supportive place to rebuild their lives in recovery.
