A man who walked up to a Midland Road home looking for a place to stay after being released from Bedford County Jail left with the resident’s car Friday night of last week, she told a Bedford County deputy
The victim said the man showed at her doorstep, said he’d just left the jail and asked to spend the night. She let him stay in a bedroom
He was gone by 10 p.m., she said. Around 10 a.m. she left her house to find the car gone.
“I always leave my keys in the car because I live in the country,” she told the deputy.
The man left behind jail release papers bearing the name Lee Lambert Warren Jr. He has not yet been arrested.
Thefts
•A green 2003 Ford Taurus was taken from the driveway of a Woodbury Street home Thursday or Friday of last week, according to a Shelbyville Police Department report.
Also reported to local authorities:
•Two trail cameras were stolen Monday from a construction site near the intersection of Highway 64 East and Lee Road.
•The license plate was stolen from a motorcycle at an apartment complex on Green Lane.
Team arrests
Multiple deputies were needed in two arrests Tuesday,
•Ryan Curtis Morton, 32, allegedly refused orders to exit a shop at his April Lane home so a deputy could serve a warrant for violation of an order of protection.
Deputies entered the shop and arrested Morton, adding an additional charge of evading arrest. A bondsman surrender was also added.
Morton was held on $120,000 bond.
•Deputies surrounded the home of Jonathan Ray Smith, 41, Riverbend Country Club Road as he was arrested on charges of simple possession of schedule II and VI drugs and paraphernalia.
Smith was held on $5,000 bond.
