Mary Katherine Arnold, 90, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away September 20, 2026. She was born September 1, 1936, in Manchester, TN. and was a longtime resident of Shelbyville.
She lived a life marked by warmth, devotion and a deep love for family. She was always on the go, bringing energy and care into the lives around her. A dedicated member of Edgemont Baptist Church in Shelbyville, she carried her faith with quiet constancy and lived in a way that reflected her generous spirit.
She found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of everyday life. She loved to cook and was especially known for her biscuits, coleslaw and sausage balls. She loved animals of all kinds and took special delight in feeding the deer that came by to visit. Christmas held a special place in her heart. She treasured her decorations, happily watched Christmas movies again and again and each year carefully kept track of the films she watched in her journal. She also enjoyed taking her nieces to garage sales and from time to time, making a trip to Winstar Casino. The music of Conway Twitty and George Jones was among her favorites and surely formed part of the familiar soundtrack of her days.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Arnold; her parents, Leana Pearl and Jim Crosslin; and her brothers, Kenneth Crosslin and Jimmy Crosslin.
She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love; her sister, Geneva Mitchell; her nephews, Mark Neece and Mark Neece Jr.; her nieces, Rose Harris, Pam Pearson, Jessica Pearson, Melissa Terry, Heather Schoepf, Jeanette Brazzil and her cherished fur baby, Boots.
Mary Katherine will be remembered in the stories shared by family, in the recipes and traditions she loved and in the many small kindnesses that made people feel at home in her presence. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for the warmth she gave so freely, the joy she found in everyday moments and the steadfast love she shared with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29th, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., at Hillcrest Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Rev. Wallace Rowland officiating.
Hillcrest Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
