What many had hoped would happen while others thought would not at this time, high school football in the state is back on schedule, of some sort.

Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagles travel to Tullahoma for a non-region matchup tonight.

It will be the start of a new era as new Golden Eagle head coach Josh Puckett will be on the sidelines coaching Shelbyville Central.

Puckett was hired just as the COVID-19 pandemic started and even though his time with the team has been limited, he is excited about the opportunity to see his team compete.

“This has been a challenging time for everyone, but I know all high school football players, coaches and fans are ready to be back at it. We just need to take the precautions given to us and stay as safe as we can,” Puckett said.

Puckett came to Shelbyville Central after a very successful stint at Lake County where he led the team the the TSSAA Class 1A state championship last year.

There are many new faces on the coaching staff and a number of new transfers that look to help the Golden Eagles have a successful season.

The Eagles have won six of the last seven games against Tullahoma, including the past two.

Tickets were sold in a presale and none will be available at the gate.

Fans must wear mask to get in and temperatures will be taken upon entry,

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
