For their second matches of the week, it was another successful day on the courts for the Shelbyville tennis squads as the Eagles took a clean, 7-0 sweep against Franklin County, while the Eaglettes claimed a 5-2 win over the Rebellettes.
Everything fell the Eagles’ way on Wednesday afternoon.
Henry Stone and Justin Spence both took 8-2 wins over their respective singles opponents, while Jackson Benson claimed an 8-4 win over Prathar Patel at the No. 3 seed.
Brayden Blackwell outlasted Jon King for a 9-7 marathon victory in the No. 4 seed, while Hoyt Wessner took an 8-4 singles win as well.
The Eagles got a strong doubles outing from Stone and Benson, who swept their opponents, 8-0.
In another marathon match, Spence and Blackwell were able to come away with a 9-7 win.
For the Eaglettes, Caitlyn Burdick, Alyssa Fanning and Ryann Samons all took singles victories, with Burdick and Samons taking an 8-2 doubles victory, while Fanning and Addie Berry added an 8-3 win for the Eaglettes.
