Two suspects charged with theft Tuesday as the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen car.
The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu stolen from Rutherford County was electronically “pinged” to a home in the 2600 block of U.S. 41A North on Tuesday afternoon,
An arriving deputy saw Joseph Camaron Perez, 33, of Rockwood Drive, Corie Renee Brannan, 29, of Jordan Avenue, and another man near the car. an investigative report said.
Brannan allegedly said the two men had been driving the car for several weeks. She was charged with theft over $10,000.
Deputies said Perez ran when they arrived and was hiding under blankets in a nearby home’s bathroom. Three debit cards belonging to another person were in his possession, according to the report.
Perez faces charges of theft over $10,000, theft over $5,000, evading arrest and fraudulent use of a credit card. He was held on $15,000 bond.
