Suspect runs to, attacks officer

A man was charged with allegedly attacking a Shelbyville police officer during an investigation on Christmas Eve afternoon.

Zaccheus Michael Carson, 34, who is listed on the police report as homeless, ran up to and attacked Officer Matt Sharp in a North Cannon Boulevard parking lot, according to a Shelbyville police report. Jolts from a stun gun had no affect on Carson, who had earlier attempted to put out a cigarette on Sharp’s hand, the report said.

Carson was eventually subdued with help from another officer and a bystander.

Officers were checking Carson after a report he had run in front of a vehicle on North Main Street and yelled and cursed the driver. Carson was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and held on $15,000 bond.

**Vehicles entered

At least three guns and a GPS were among items stolen by two teenage boys from three vehicles early Monday on Hazelnut Lane near Longview, a Bedford County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Home security cameras show the boys covering one of them on approach. The footage was posted on a community neighborhood watch page and one of the suspects identified, the BCSO said. He was charged with three counts of auto burglary, two counts of theft and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon.

Several items were recovered from a backpack the boys had hidden in woods.

**Car stolen

Two men were charged with stealing a vehicle from a Tullahoma home health agency after the unlicensed driver swerved across the center line of North Jackson Street on Sunday, according to a Bedford County Sheriff’s Office report.

An Estill Springs officer noticed Nathaniel Ray Brown, 20, of Tullahoma and followed him into Bedford County where Deputy Robert “Teddy” Taylor took over the investigation. Brown was charged with vehicle theft and driving without a license and held on $10,500 bond.

Brown said he and Dylan Joe Williams, 20, of Tullahoma were walking and found the vehicle unlocked with its keys inside. Williams was charged with theft of a vehicle and held on $10,000 bond.

**Thefts

•A television was stolen from a Landers Street home between Tuesday and Friday while the occupant was away, police were told.

•A man is charged with taking a chair from a recreational vehicle at Bedford Motors, North Main Street.

Brandon Chad Wilson, 23, of East Lane Street was charged with theft under $500 and posted $500 bond, police said,

•A wallet containing approximately $250 was stolen from a truck at Lowe’s, North Main Street, between 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.

•A vape was taken from a table at Krystal, Madison Street, on Dec. 23.

**Shoplifting

A shoplifting charge was filed against a man who allegedly ripped tags off several items and concealed some items inside others on Dec. 24 at Walmart.

Paul David Bogard III was cited and released, police said.

**Drug charges

•A cigar pack containing .73 grams of marijuana was confiscated from a woman arrested moments earlier for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, according to Shelbyville police.

Shekeria M. Weatherspoon. 20, of Neeley Avenue allegedly stuck a mailbox on Birch Street early Christmas morning and drove on the wrong side of Madison Street en route to a home a short distance away.

Weatherspoon was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of a schedule VI drug. She was released on $3,000 bond.

•Kenneth Emill House, 32, of Springdale Avenue was charged with simple possession and public intoxication when what officers described as a “small amount” of marijuana was found in his clothing as he was arrested for public intoxication Tuesday night.

House had been walking in the road on Madison Street, police were told. He was held on $1,000 bond.

**Sobriety checkpoint

A sobriety checkpoint will be held at 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 on U,S, 41A North .9 miles south of the 3-mile marker, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol media release.

The THP is required by law to notify the public of upcoming checkpoints.

**Jail intake
