Suspect sneaks marijuana into jail

Drug charges were added after marijuana was found Friday morning in the clothing of a DUI suspect at Bedford County Jail.
Christian Isaha Wooten, 19, of Wheel Road allegedly told an officer earlier he had no marijuana on him other than a small amount found scattered when he was initially stopped.
Detective Chris Brown of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office stopped Wooten for alleged reckless driving on U.S. 231 North.
Deputies noticed marijuana on Wooten’s shirt and in his car’s floorboard. Wooten said he had no more than that amount, the report said.
Wooten allegedly couldn’t be administered field sobriety tests due to “aggressive behavior and repeated attempts to walk away,” according to the report.
Approximately 5.2 grams of marijuana was recovered from Wooten’s clothing.
Wooten was charged with DUI, simple possession and introducing contraband into a penal facility and released on $10,000 bond.
Thefts
Two rifles, a shotgun and prescription medication were taken from a locked home on Old Flat Creek Road in Flat Creek between 12:30-12:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a Bedford County Sheriff’s Office report.
A door frame was damaged while entry was gained.
•A cell phone was stolen Saturday night from a counter at Economy Liquors, Madison Street, a Shelbyville Police Department report said.
The phone was later pinged to the Deery Street-East Lane Street area.
Harassment
•An employee at Hardee’s, Madison Street, told police a drive-through customer made sexually-related remarks and grabbed her hand and wrist while receiving an order late Saturday afternoon.
The man later returned and handed another employee a sheet of paper containing his name and phone number. He has not been arrested as of Monday.
•A man who kept calling 911 from in front of Shelbyville Police Department headquarters and refusing to give his name or say why he was calling when officers arrived was charged with misuse of 911 and public intoxication.
Kahled Mahmoud Ali’s actions were likely fueled by alcohol, Officer Chris Vest’s report said. Ali was held on $6,000 bond.
