Suspicious activity leads to arrest

The Shelbyville Police Department has arrested a suspect following a brief pursuit and foot chase.

SPD officers were dispatched to the area of Pickle Street and South Cannon Boulevard Monday night in reference to reckless driving and possible drug activity complaints. Arriving officers noticed the vehicle at the end of Pickle Street and made an attempt at a traffic stop.  The vehicle backed up and headed down Pickle Street toward Riverview Drive, where Sgt. Chris Vest activated his emergency lights in an attempt at stopping the vehicle.  The suspect made an attempt at hitting Sgt. Vest's patrol car.

Pursuing officers followed the vehicle onto South Cannon Boulevard where they observed the suspects running two separate red lights. Due to the amount of traffic and the actions of the driver, SPD terminated the pursuit.

SPD returned to interview witnesses when they were notified that the suspects were in the area of Lowe's on North Main Street. Responding officers spoke with a witness at Lowe's who stated he had observed two males and a female exit the vehicle and take off running into the woods between Tractor Supply and Lowe's.

Officers searched the area and were able to locate one of the suspects who was a passenger. While searching, officers located a firearm which was stolen from Spring Hill. Two other suspects were not located, having possibly gotten a ride from the area.

The driver, Kainen Young has been identified and currently has warrants for his arrest. Young, who has a Kingston Springs, Tenn., address, has additional outstanding warrants from Cheatham County. The passenger who was arrested, William Warrick out of Nashville, was booked into the Bedford County Jail.
