Shelbyville – Vanderbilt Health has opened a new plastic surgery clinic in Bedford County for residents needing reconstructive or general cosmetic plastic surgery closer to home.

Located at 112 Airport Business Park Road, Suite A, in Shelbyville, the new clinic provides comprehensive plastic surgery care for a wide range of conditions and helps patients restore function and improve appearance after a severe injury or illness.

The clinic is staffed by three Vanderbilt Health providers: William Lineaweaver, M.D., Panambur Bhandari, M.D. and Haley Mullins, PA.

In addition to general cosmetic services, the clinic’s reconstructive plastic surgery expertise includes treating hand and upper extremity injuries, peripheral nerve repair for pain relief and functional recovery, abdominal wall reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction, breast surgery, and acute and secondary burn surgery.

“Now plastic surgery patients in Bedford County can receive personalized care close to home, which is a huge benefit because traveling home after surgery and for the multiple follow-up appointments isn’t something you want to travel long distances for,” said Lineaweaver.

The clinic is also currently developing its microsurgical reconstruction services and capabilities and will soon be able to provide breast reconstruction, repair vascular injuries to the fingers, hands and forearm and peripheral nerve reconstruction.

Lineaweaver completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of California and a fellowship in hand surgery and microsurgery at the Davies Medical Center. He specializes in hand surgery, peripheral nerve surgery and secondary burn reconstruction.

Bhandari specializes in hand and wrist surgery and treats patients with carpal tunnel, trigger finger, hand and wrist arthritis, tendinitis, Dupuytren's contracture and ganglion cysts. He also treats a wide variety of hand injuries including fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries and wounds.

He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Calicut and a residency in plastic surgery at Kerala University of Health Sciences. This was followed by three separate fellowships in facial plastic surgery, hand and microsurgery as well as craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery.

Haley Mullins works alongside Bhandari and Lineaweaver as a certified physician assistant and has expertise in cosmetic plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery.

“We’re excited to be able to bring Vanderbilt Health’s expertise in plastic surgery to the Bedford County community and provide patients with high-level health care that makes a difference in people’s lives,” said Galen Perdikis, MD, FACS, chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
