You may have noticed over the past few weeks that there is a new phrase entering into the political elites lexicon and that phrase is Vaccine Passports. The idea of "Papers Please" before entering a restaurant, sporting venue, aircraft or church should alarm even the most apathetic.
This comes as the Washington Post reports, "the Biden regime and private companies are working to develop a standard way of handling credentials-often referred to as vaccine passports that would allow Americans to PROVE they have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus as businesses try to reopen." Just this week, New York Governor Cuomo stated that he will soon introduce the Excelsior Pass, a card which proves you have taken a Covid-19 vaccine or have a recent negative test in order to enter events and business. This pass is similar to an airline boarding pass that you can either print out or show on your smartphone.
A Vaccine Passport would include data on when you received your "so-called vaccine" and if you have had a recent Covid19 test. Sure, the idea might sound good at first but it's a slippery slope, I can assure you. I have to ask, do you really believe Big Tech will protect your medical data? How will HIPAA (patient privacy act) be affected? What constitutional violations will this create? To put it mildly, it would be like the fox guarding the hen house with Big Tech in control of your medical records. In short, privacy and ethical problems outweigh the benefits of possible passports. Besides, what ever happened to "My Body My Choice?
I also find it strange Democrats paint Voter ID laws in a bad "racist" light but want to require a vaccine passport. All of a sudden, they seem very concerned about Americans showing passport ID's to go about their daily lives.
The Democratic controlled House most recently passed Bill H.R.1 which interferes with the ability of states and their citizens to determine qualifications for voters and to ensure the accuracy of voter registration rolls. This, of course creates, a double standard.
If you can smell the hypocrisy in all of this, then please reach out to your local and state representatives and tell them this is a terrible idea and that Vaccine Passports should be totally off the table for the state of Tennessee.
