BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Champions (11-7, 2-1) forced 18 turnovers from Chapel Hill (5-14, 0-2) in Friday’s blowout home district win, 58-37.

Cascade’s Kaleb Kelso led all scorers with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from downtown while pulling down six rebounds, dishing out five assists, and swiping four steals. Henry Stone joined Kelso in double-figures with 13 points as well as Cooper McElroy chipping in with 10 points, two steals, and two blocks. The Champions outscored the visitors 22-6 in points-off-turnovers and committed just eight turnovers of their own.

For former Vikings’ Head Coach Robbie Davis’ team, the Rockets, Andruw Myers eventually found a way to reach double-figures with a team-high 12 points, but he was the only one to do so in the loss.

Cascade jumped out to a 19-4 lead at the end of the opening period, completely shutting down anything Chapel Hill tried to run offensively thanks to the hosts’ stifling defense. In the second quarter, the Rockets managed to hold the Champions to just 10 points, but were still outscored, 10-7, and trailed 29-11 heading into the halftime locker room.

Chapel Hill managed to play even with Cascade in the third quarter with the hosts only able to grow their lead by one point, 44-25, entering the final frame.

In that fourth quarter, Cascade outscored the Rockets, 13-12, after clearing the benches with about three minutes remaining to reach the final margin, 58-37, and improve to 2-1 in district play.

Chapel Hill falls to 5-14 overall. They host Community on Tuesday night in another district contest as Robbie Davis takes on his former team for the first time since parting ways.

The Champions improve to 11-7 overall. Cascade travels to Richland on Saturday before traveling to Cannon County on Tuesday in a pair of non-district matchups, LIVE on The Zinger 100.9 and AM 1400 starting at 5:45 p.m.
