SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. –  The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (3-5) got back to winning ways with a 65-21 blowout win against Centennial at the Eagles’ Nest on Friday night.

The Eaglettes had three players reach double-figures in the scorebook, led by Janiya Leslie’s game-high 13 points, Jada Berry’s 12 points, and Yasmine McFarland chipping in with 10 points.

For Centennial, Addison Pauley was the only Cougar to surpass double-digits, finishing with a team-high 11 points.

Early on, Shelbyville took a 14-9 lead at the end of the opening period with all five starters scoring at least one bucket.

However, the second quarter is when the Eaglettes made their mark, outscoring the visitors, 28-2, to take a massive 42-11 lead heading into the halftime locker room. Leslie led the way with seven points in the period, followed by Destiny McCullough, Sequoyah Young, and McFarland each chipping in with five points. Jayda Frazier scored a pair of field goals as well.

The scoring tapered off in the third quarter, but the Eaglettes were still able to outscore Centennial, 11-8, to carry a 53-19 lead into the final frame.

Shelbyville also won the fourth quarter for good measure, 9-2, en route to the final margin of victory, 60-21.

Shelbyville improves to 3-5 and are set to travel to Montgomery Bell Academy to take on Harpeth Hall on Monday night at 6:00 p.m.
