TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (5-7) were unable to generate any consistent rhythm offensively for most of the night in the second iteration of the ‘Battle of Highway 41-A’ against the Tullahoma Wildcats (6-3) on Tuesday night, falling 52-36.

Jada Berry scored all nine of her team’s points in the third quarter as part of her 19-point performance, and Janiya Leslie chipped in with 13 points.

After the first matchup exactly two weeks prior in which the Wildcats held off a late Eaglettes’ rally to win by 12, Tullahoma’s Mclayne Bobo – who signed with MTSU in November – dominated from the opening jump, finishing with a game-high 30 points, including 11/15 shooting at the free throw line. She was the only Wildcat to score in double-figures.

Lizzy Sharpton got the scoring started for Tullahoma, scoring four of her six total points to open the game. Bobo added a pair of threes and a pair of made free throws, Zoie Roberts nailed another three, and Kenzie Farrell added a layup. For Shelbyville, Jada Berry led the way with six points while Leslie hit a three and scored the other five as the Eaglettes trailed by six points, 17-11, at the end of the first quarter.

Leslie scored Shelbyville Central’s only four points in the second period as Tullahoma outscored the visitors, 10-4, to take a 27-15 lead heading into the halftime locker room. Aubrey North nailed the fourth of five total Tullahoma triples, Gena Hickerson added two points, and Bobo added five points to bring her first-half total to 13.

After dealing with foul trouble in the second quarter, Jada Berry became the sole source of offense for Shelbyville coming out of halftime. She was the only Eaglette to score, putting up nine points in the period. Meanwhile, Bobo scored six more points, Ferrell added two, and Sharpton nailed a pair of free throws to ensure the Wildcats took a 37-24 lead heading into the final frame.

Bobo closed out the Eaglettes in the fourth quarter, converting a pair of old-fashioned three-point plays on top of nailing a three-pointer, rounding out her impressive evening with 11 points in the period. The Tullahoma lead ballooned to more than 20 points before the Eaglettes fought back with a couple of late buckets. Berry added four more in the quarter, Kenley Patton split a pair of free throws, Leslie added four more, and Jayda Frazier scored her only three points of the night in the fourth.

Shelbyville falls to 5-7 overall. The Eaglettes head into the Christmas Break with 12 days off, returning on Monday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. against Wayne County at the Moore County Classic.
