Shelbyville, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (9-7, 1-2) struggled to slow down the Lady Falcons’ (16-3, 3-0) high-octane offensive attack in Tuesday night’s District 9-AAAA loss, 76-45, inside of Rick Insell Gymnasium.

Shelbyville’s Lanaya Young led the way with a game-high 24 points with 19 of them coming in the second half, but she was the only Eaglette to score more than seven points on the night.

For Lincoln County, Abby Bryan, Molly Brown, and Grasen Tipps all reached double-figures in scoring. Bryan finished with a team-high 22 points, Brown scored 14 points, and Tipps chipped in with 12 points of her own.

To start the game, Lincoln County came out of the gates clicking on all cylinders on both ends of the floor, outscoring Shelbyville Central, 27-10, to end the first quarter. Bryan led all scorers with 11 points in the period.

In the second quarter, the Lady Falcons continued their onslaught, taking a 45-17 lead into the halftime locker room. Lincoln County, last season’s district runners-up to Coffee County, had five different players score in the second period.

Coming out of halftime, the Eaglettes picked up the production offensively, mainly due to Young forcing the issue and putting in nine points in the period, but Lincoln County still outscored Shelbyville as a team, 21-16, to take a 65-33 lead into the final frame.

The result was a formality at this point, but Shelbyville did outscore the Lady Falcons, 12-10, in the fourth quarter to make the final score 76-45. Young scored 10 of the 12 points for the Eaglettes.

Lincoln County improves to 16-3 (3-0).

Shelbyville Central falls to 9-7 (1-2), and is scheduled to host Spring Hill on Friday night for Homecoming, LIVE on WLIJ 98.7 starting at 5:45 p.m.
