TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Eaglettes (12-3, 6-1) got back to winning ways in District 8-AA play at Tullahoma, 6-1, while the Golden Eagles (13-2, 5-2) suffered its second-consecutive defeat, 6-1.

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Eaglettes (12-3, 6-1) got back to winning ways in District 8-AA play at Tullahoma, 6-1, while the Golden Eagles (13-2, 5-2) suffered its second-consecutive defeat, 6-1.
The Eaglettes got started by sweeping the doubles points with Sophie Ray and Lilly Smith running past Lexa Barnes and Hope Thomas, 8-2, before Addie Berry and Abby Thaxton held off Wen Nilin and Claire Fogarty, 8-5.
In the singles matches, Lilly Smith took down Lexa Barnes on Court One, 8-1, Addie Berry easily dispatched Hope Thomas on Court Two, 8-0, and Sophie Ray dominated Wen Nilin on Court Three, 8-1. Abby Thaxton fell to Claire Fogarty in a tightly contested match on Court Four, 8-1, but Elisa Aldis defeated Ayson Orr, 8-2, to secure the sixth and final team point in a bounce-back performance.
The Golden Eagles, however, suffered close defeat after close defeat against the Wildcats, starting with the doubles points. Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson came up just short against Luke Reagan and Ryan Tenison, 8-6, while Justin Spence and Tanner Johnson fell to Eli Martinez and Tommy Phan, 8-4.
Henry Stone picked up the one win for the Golden Eagles in the singles matches, fending off Luke Reagan, 8-6, on Court One. Unfortunately for Shelbyville, Tullahoma would survive everywhere else. Justin Spence fell to Ryan Tenison on Court Two, 8-5, Tucker Johnson came up short against Eli Martinez, 8-6, Tanner Johnson lost to Tommy Phan, 8-6, on Court Four, and finally, Carter Watson was held off by Chase Banks, 8-6, on Court Five.
Shelbyville travels to Webb on Thursday in the final regular season matchup at 3:30 before the Individual District Tournament begins on Thursday, May 1.
