SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (3-2, 3-1) and Golden Eagles (5-0, 4-0) won another District 6-AA matchup, this time at home against Columbia Central on Friday.
In the Eaglettes’ doubles matches, Lilly Smith and Lydia Yoes dispatched McKennon Jones and Marley Molder 8-1 on Court One before Evony Smith and Jackie Juarez fell to Hannah Smith and Annette in a tiebreaker, 9-7, on Court Two. Finally, Georgia Frazier and Jocelyn Morales outlasted Floyd and Olphelia Butler, 8-6, on Court Three.
For the singles matches, the Eaglettes found a way to sweep the Lady Lions, starting with Lilly Smith running past Jones 8-2 on Court One. On Court Two, Yoes outlasted Molder 8-6, Juarez took down Hannah Smith 8-5 on Court Three, and Evony Smith beat Ladaish Murray 8-5 on Court Four. On Court Five, Morales persevered over AZ Brown 8-5, and Frazier beat Butler 8-3 on Court Six.
The Golden Eagles remained unbeaten with a forfeit win over the Lions.
Shelbyville Central is set to travel to Wilson Central in a non-district contest on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
