MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (1-1) bounced back in a big way from Tuesday’s loss with a dominant road victory, 55-26, over the Siegel Stars (0-2) on Thursday night.

Shelbyville’s Janiya Leslie and Jada Frazier tied to lead all scorers with 14 points apiece while Jada Berry reached double-figures for the second-consecutive game, finishing with 13 points of her own.

Meanwhile, the Eaglettes defense was tenacious all evening, forcing 20 turnovers by the Stars and allowing just one player to reach double-digit points. Riah Byrd led Siegel with 12 points, but eight of those came in the first quarter alone.

Siegel actually took a slim 13-11 lead at the end of the opening period, but then the Eaglettes completely shut out the Stars in the second, outscoring the hosts 22-0 and heading into the halftime locker room with a commanding 33-11 lead. Six different Eaglettes found a bucket in the period en route to the massive advantage. Frazier finished with nine first half points, Berry had eight points, and Leslie scored eight points as well.

In the third quarter, Shelbyville kept its foot on the gas pedal, outscoring Siegel 15-7 to take a 48-20 lead heading into the final frame. Byrd connected on a pair of two-point field goals for the hosts, and these were the only field goals the Eaglettes allowed in the period.

The result was merely a formality in the fourth quarter, and yet the Eaglettes still outscored the Stars 7-6 to reach the final margin of 55-26.

Siegel falls to 0-2 and hosts Gallatin on Monday night.

Shelbyville improves to 1-1 and travels to Glencliff on Friday.
