SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (9-4) made quick work of the Siegel Stars (4-5) on Monday night at the Eagles’ Nest, 88-64.

Tae’Shawn Shelton led all scorers with a game-high 28 points that all came in the first three quarters of play, leading Shelbyville to a 73-43 advantage heading into the fourth. Jevon Lee added 13 points, and Tommie Cannon chipped in with 11. Jordan Taylor finished with eight points, and Jack Conditt officially returned to the floor for the first time this season, announcing his presence with a first quarter three-pointer before finishing with seven points.

For Siegel, Malahi Suttles scored a team-high 16 points, but 14 of those came in the fourth quarter. Omar Conteh finished with 15 points on 8/10 shooting from the free throw line, and R.J. Biggers finished with 15 points as well.

Shelton led the way in the opening period with a pair of three-pointers to finish with 10 of Shelbyville’s 19 points in a 19-9 lead. In the second, Shelbyville exploded for 26 points, holding Siegel to just 12 points as the Golden Eagles raced out to a 45-21 lead heading into the halftime locker room. Shelton, Cannon, and Lee all scored six points in the frame.

In the third quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored Siegel, 28-22, in a high-scoring period of play led by Shelton’s 12-point frame. Consequently, Shelbyville’s lead ballooned to 30 points, 73-43, resulting in Cannon, Shelton, and Lee all sitting for the entire fourth quarter.

In that final frame, Siegel outscored the hosts, 21-15, but it was not enough to make a real dent in the Shelbyville lead as the Golden Eagles finished with a 24-point win.

Shelbyville improves to 9-4 overall. The Golden Eagles travel to Tullahoma looking for revenge in the ‘Battle of Highway 41-A’ on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. to complete the second night of a back-to-back.
