SPRING HILL, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (15-8, 3-0) completed the season sweep over the Summit Spartans (13-5, 0-0), 70-65, thanks to a furious fourth quarter rally spearheaded by Tommie Cannon’s 27-point outing on Tuesday.
Ford DeShazo led the Spartans with a team-high 25 points of his own, including 14 coming in the second half alone. Summit also got 17 points from Joel Coverston who connected on four three-pointers in the process, but no one else was able to crack double-digits.
Shelbyville was obviously led by Cannon’s game-high 27 points, but Tae’Shawn Shelton added 13 points along with Jordan Taylor chipping in with 11 points. Meanwhile, Jevon Lee was held to just six points on the interior. As a team, the Golden Eagles were able to knock down seven three-pointers to counter the nine hits from downtown by the Spartans.
In the early stages, Shelbyville jumped out to a 20-15 lead at the end of the opening period.
