BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After a historic 2026 campaign that saw the program’s first district title since 2014, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (16-1, 10-0) saw its season come to an end in the Region 3-AA Championship at Brentwood, 4-0.
In the doubles’ matches, Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson fell to Greyson Meeker and Noah Shalkerich, 1-8, on Court One. Tanner Johnson and Carter Watson also came up short against Stone Lohnmeyer and Yash Hiremath, 1-8, on Court Two as the Bruins secured the doubles’ point.
In the singles matches, Tucker Johnson fell to Shalkerich, 1-6, 0-6, on Court Two, Watson lost to Lohnmeyer, 0-6, 0-6, on Court Three, and Tanner Johnson was swept by Hiremath, 0-6, 0-6, on Court Four to seal the fourth and final point the Bruins needed. At the time of defeat, Stone trailed Meeker, 1-6, 2-2, on Court One and Ryan Jaykus trailed Kenzo Katsura, 0-6, 0-2, on Court Five.
In the Region 5-AA Individuals Tournament, Lilly Smith came up short against Emma Baker from Page, 0-6, 0-6, in the first round.
Henry Stone battled against Tyler Fossick from Franklin, but ultimately he too fell in straight sets, 4-6, 0-6, in the final match of his career. Stone finishes as the two-time defending District 9-AA Individual Champion.
