MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Cascade Champions continued their hot shooting stretch on the road against the Class 3-A Central Magnet Tigers on Monday night, coming away with a 29-point victory, 67-38.
After connecting on a season high 16 three-pointers in their last game against Huntland, Cascade got off to another fast start, connecting on four three-pointers in the opening period to help open up a 19-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Cascade outscored Central Magnet, 21-7, to take a commanding 41-13 lead into the halftime locker room. Kaleb Kelso scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the first half, including a pair of threes, and Noah Watson scored seven of his 11 points in the opening 16 minutes as well.
In the third quarter, Cascade continued to extend their lead, outscoring the Tigers, 17-12, to take a 58-25 lead going into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the result was a formality, allowing both teams to empty their respective benches. The Tigers outscored the visitors, 13-9, but Cascade still came away with the win, 67-38.
For Cascade, Tyler Barrett put in a season-high 14 points, Kelso led the way with his 20 points, and Watson reached double-figures again with 11 points himself. Jason Cullum, after scoring 21 first-half points against the Hornets, only needed to chip in with eight points.
For Central Magnet, Hollis Jackson was the only one to reach double-figures in scoring with 10 points, nine of which were in the second half. The Cascade defense had a stranglehold on the game from the opening tap, and they were ale to pick up their seventh win of the season because of it.
Central Magnet falls to 4-7 on the year.
Cascade improves to 7-4 overall. They are currently scheduled to play in the Outback Christmas Classic in Murfreesboro on Saturday against Blackman at 2:00 p.m.
