CORNERSVILLE, Tenn. – Tip-off was at 9:00 a.m., but the Cascade Lady Champions (2-1) seemed unbothered in a dominant 63-32 win over Collinwood (1-2) in the first game of the Cornersville Thanksgiving Tournament on Monday morning.
Four different Lady Champs finished in double-figures, led by Caroline Parker’s 15-point outing. Lizzie Keele finished with 14 points and six steals, Lexi Comstock added 10 points and five rebounds, and Jocelyn Laughlin tallied 10 points to go along with six boards. Kaegan Young tacked on with eight points and six steals.
Collinwood struggled all game offensively, shooting just 27% from the floor and committing 28 turnovers that led to Cascade forming a 28-6 advantage in points-off-turnovers. The Lady Trojans’ leading scorer was Emmy Reece Brown, who finished with nine points on 3/12 shooting.
Cascade jumped out to an early 15-6 lead after the opening period, leading to a 23-15 lead going into the halftime locker room.
However, in the third quarter, the Lady Champions blew the game wide open, outscoring Collinwood, 27-6, as the lead quickly ballooned to 50-21 heading into the final frame.
Despite the result being in-hand, Cascade still outscored the Lady Trojans, 13-11, in the fourth quarter to reach the final margin of 63-32 and take home the win.
Cascade improves to 2-1 and is scheduled for a rematch with Eagleville at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Cornersville.
