UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – In the first ‘Battle of Bedford’ of 2025, the Cascade Lady Champions (3-0-0, 2-0-0) took down the Community Viqueens (0-2-0, 0-1-0), 5-0, thanks to a hat trick from sophomore forward Lexi Comstock.

In both sides’ first contest since August 21st due to the Horse Show Break, Cascade came out looking like their usual possession-dominant selves, and they earned a penalty in just the 3rd minute when Brinlie Collet was taken down in the box. Olivia Winnett stepped up to take the penalty, powering home her third goal of the season into the bottom left corner to put the Lady Champs ahead, 1-0.

One minute later, Comstock’s tame attempt was saved by Alana Tate as Cascade kept up the pressure.

In the 12th minute, Kaylee Martin nearly scored after Comstock’s sizzling pass across the box was sent just wide of the Viqueens’ goal by Martin.

In the 17th minute, Cascade once again was awarded a penalty following another foul in the box after Comstock dribbled through a couple of defenders. Collet stepped up and slotted home her fourth goal of the season into the bottom right corner to double Cascade’s lead to 2-0.

Community registered its first shot-on-goal in the 32nd minute from a tame long range effort.

In the 34th minute, Comstock was played in behind, and she used her pace to pounce on the bouncing ball, bringing it under control before firing it home across goal into the left corner past a diving Tate to give the Lady Champs a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, it only took Cascade seven minutes to add on to its lead. In the 47th minute, Collet delivered a cross in from the left flank into the path of an onrushing Comstock, who re-directed the ball into the back of the net to extend Cascade’s lead to 4-0.

Finally, in the 52nd minute, Comstock put the finishing touches on her incredible performance by completing her hat trick with a beautiful outside-of-the-box long-range curler into the top right corner to bring her season tally to a team-high six goals on the season and give Cascade a 5-0 lead.

Community is set to host Huntland to continue district play on Tuesday with kickoff at 6:00 p.m.

Cascade takes on Giles County in Gatlinburg on Friday in the first of three games in East Tennessee. The Lady Champs return to district play at Fayetteville on Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
