BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Lady Champions (7-0-1, 4-0) scored nine goals for the second consecutive match in District 9-A in the 9-0 win over Huntland (2-5-0, 2-2) on Tuesday night.
Lexi Comstock, Olivia Winnett, and Ella McGeary each tallied a brace as the Lady Champs’ offensive attack continued to click following a 9-0 win at Fayetteville City last week.
However, it was Claire Smithson who opened the scoring against Huntland. In the 8th minute, Cascade won its first corner of the night, and McGeary’s delivery into the box found its way to Smithson, who proceeded to poke home her second goal of the season.
Comstock doubled the Lady Champs lead in the 15th minute when she was the first to meet Kaylee Martin’s cross in the box and re-direct it into the back of the net.
Cascade continued to dominate possession for nearly the entirety of the first half, picking apart the Lady Hornets with quick one and two-touch passes to create quality chances. However, in the 23rd minute, McGeary knocked home the Lady Champs’ third goal of the game with a looping long range effort that nestled into the net from about 23 yards out near the right-corner of the penalty area.
Two minutes later, Winnett tacked on another goal when her long-range effort went through the keeper’s hands and over the line to grow the lead to 4-0.
Comstock put the finishing touches on a fine first half in the 30th minute, notching her team-leading 13th goal of the season to give Cascade a commanding 5-0 lead at the break.
The second half was more of the same until the Lady Champs ultimately triggered the game-ending mercy rule. Winnett scored her eighth goal of the season to make it 6-0, Kaylee Martin got on the scoresheet with her third of the year to make it 7-0, Kyla Pulley also scored her third goal of the season to get to 8-0 off of the second assist of the year from Claire Smithson, and then McGeary sent everyone home with her third goal of the season off of Brinlee Collet’s second assist of 2025 to reach the 9-0 mark.
Cascade hosts Coffee County on Thursday before returning to district play at home against the Viqueens next Tuesday.
