Lady Champs Fall at Moore County Despite Young’s 18-Point Double-Double

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. – The Cascade Lady Champions (4-2) saw their four-game winning streak snapped at Moore County (2-1), 56-43, on Tuesday night.

Kaegan Young led the Lady Champs with a double-double, tallying 18 points on 10/13 shooting from the free throw line while pulling down 13 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter. She was the only Lady Champion to reach double-figures, although Jade Tolar chipped in with nine points on a pair of three-pointers to go along with five rebounds off the bench. As a team, Cascade shot just 26% from the floor and committed 16 turnovers against the Moore County zone defense.

For the Raiderettes, Emma Dye led the hosts with 15 points and eight rebounds with three steals, Ally Sharpe added 12 points, and Ellie Carter chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds along with three steals.

.Early on, Cascade was able to hang around with Moore County, trailing just 11-7 at the end of the opening period of play. However, the second quarter is when the Raiderettes were able to make a run, outscoring the Lady Champs, 18-11, to take a 29-18 lead heading into the halftime locker room. 

Cascade actually won the third quarter, trimming the deficit to just 10 points, 36-26, going into the final frame, but the Raiderettes were able to hold off any late push from the visitors. Moore County connected on its free throws, winning the fourth quarter, 20-17, to reach the final margin of 56-43.

Cascade falls to 4-2, and is set to hit the road again on Friday night when the Lady Champs take on Fayetteville City, LIVE on The Zinger 100.9 and AM 1400 starting at 5:45 p.m.
