HUNTLAND, Tenn. – The Cascade Lady Champions (1-0, 1-0) got off to a strong start to the 2026 season on Tuesday night with a dominant 10-1 win over the Huntland Hornets (0-1, 0-1) in District 9-A play.

Lexi Comstock, who scored a record 32 goals in 2025, opened her junior season with five goals for Cascade. Adalyn Nelms – a freshman – scored twice with one assist in her first regular season game at the high school level. Olivia Winnett scored and assisted one time each, Aliana Leverette scored her first goal in a Lady Champion uniform, and Kaylee Martin opened her 2026 tally with a goal as well.

Claire Smithson dished out two assists from midfield, and Marissa Gulick also was credited with one assist as well.

Cascade did all of its damage in the first half. Comstock opened the scoring after some early pressure before Nelms scored her first career goal to double the Lady Champions’ lead. Then, Comstock quickly scored her second before Huntland avoided being shutout with a goal to trim the lead to 3-1.

That goal kept the Cascade attack going, as Nelms recorded her brace shortly after behind a Smithson assist followed by Winnett’s first goal of the season to make it 5-1.

Kaylee Martin nabbed her first goal thanks to another Smithson assist, Leverette did minutes later as well, and then Comstock scored the final two goals of the half in quick succession with Gulick dishing out an assist.

Shortly after the second half began, Comstock netted her fifth and final goal of the night to trigger the mercy rule and send the Lady Champions hope victorious.

Cascade heads to Gatlinburg to participate in the Smoky Mountain Cup beginning on Friday night against Pigeon Forge with kickoff set for 4:50 E.T.
