BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – After opening the season with a convincing 4-0 win at Cannon County on Tuesday, The Cascade Lady Champions (2-0-0, 1-0-0) got off to a fast start in District 9-A, taking down Chapel Hill (1-0-1, 0-0-1), 7-1, for a big home win on Thursday.

Junior midfielder, Brinlee Collet, found the back of the net twice for the hosts, tying her with star sophomore forward, Lexi Comstock, with three goals through the first two games. Comstock also continued her goal-scoring run to begin 2025, netting a brace as well.

Comstock actually opened the scoring against the Lady Rockets in the 9th minute after pouncing on a defensive giveaway, slotting home the first goal of the game past Karly Pfeifer to put Cascade in front 1-0.

Chapel Hill actually punched back three minutes later when senior forward, Alexandria Whiteside, was able to slip through the Lady Champs’ backline and poke home the equalizer in the 12th minute to tie things up at 1-1.

Comstock nearly put Cascade back in front in the 19th minute, but her shot from the edge of the box was saved by Pfeifer.

Then, in the 30th minute, Collet scored her second goal of the season at the back post to put Cascade ahead for good, 2-1.

Olivia Winnett nearly got on the scoresheet twice in the final two minutes of the first half, but both of her shots from outside of the box hit off the crossbar and sent both teams to halftime with the Lady Champs holding on to a slim 2-1 lead.

It didn’t take long for Cascade to open the scoring in the second half with Collet nabbing her brace in the 41st minute after putting the finishing touches on a wonderful ball played back across the box, extending the lead to 3-1.

Four minutes later, in the 45th minute, Cascade was fouled outside of the box, and Olivia Winnett stepped up to take the free kick from 21 yards out on the left side. After scoring once on Tuesday, Winnett scored her second goal of the young season with a gorgeous curling set piece to the back post, nestling into the top corner past the diving Pfeifer to grow the Lady Champs’ lead to 4-1.

In the 47th minute, Comstock nabbed her brace after she was played in behind the high line of the Lady Rockets, using her pace to accelerate into a 1-on-1 with Pfeifer. Comstock smashed the ball past Pfeifer’s right side and into the back of the net to increase the advantage to 5-1.

Neither team really threatened for the next 25 minutes or so until Ella McGeary scored her first goal of the season with a beautiful outside-of-the-box hit that looped up and over Pfeifer and into the back of the net in the 76th minute.

In the 77th minute, Kyla Pulley scored her first goal of the year and the final goal of the game after chasing down a bouncing ball in the Lady Rockets’ box and poking home the Lady Champs’ seventh goal of the night to reach the final score of 7-1.

Cascade returns to the pitch after the Horse Show break on September 4th with the first ‘Battle of Bedford’ at Community.
