BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Lady Champions (12-1-1, 8-0-0) advanced to their fifth-consecutive district championship on Tuesday night after mercy-ruling the Huntland Lady Hornets (2-11-0, 2-6-0), 9-0, in the District 9-A semifinals.

BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Lady Champions (12-1-1, 8-0-0) advanced to their fifth-consecutive district championship on Tuesday night after mercy-ruling the Huntland Lady Hornets (2-11-0, 2-6-0), 9-0, in the District 9-A semifinals.
The Lady Champions put seven goals past the visiting Lady Hornets in the first half alone.
Ella McGeary opened the scoring early with her fourth goal of the season before Kaylee Martin also found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the campaign.
Shortly after, Lexi Comstock scored her first goal of the night to grow the lead to 3-0.
Cascade kept up the intense pressure before Comstock scored her team-leading 24th goal this season to give the Lady Champs a 4-0 lead. Claire Smithson provided her fourth assist of the season on Winnett’s first goal of the night to make it 5-0 before Ella McGeary provided an assist to Winnett a short time afterwards.
Finally, to close out the half, Winnett put Cascade’s seventh goal on the board with a solo goal to bring her season tally to 14 goals.
In the second half, Jemely Palomo got on the scoresheet for the first time this season, and then Alayna Ormiston sent everyone home with her first goal of the season as well later on.
Huntland’s season comes to a close.
Cascade advances to host Chapel Hill in the district title game on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. after the Lady Rockets outlasted the Community Viqueens in the other semifinal.
