BELL BUCKLE, TN – The Cascade Lady Champions got back to winning ways on Tuesday night, taking down the Eagleville Lady Eagles, 48-38, at The Stable, to snap a three-game losing streak.
Kaegan Young led the way for the Lady Champs, finishing with a team-high 12 points. Caroline Parker joined her in double-figures scoring with 11 points while Kaydence Miller connected on a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points herself.
For Eagleville, Meah Thompson scored a game-high 17 points, including 16 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough in the end for the Lady Eagles. Rylee Warbritton chipped in with nine points for Eagleville, who were missing star forward Brinli Bain, and struggled offensively for the majority of the night.
The first half was a slog for both sides, as the first quarter finished tied at 8-8. Cascade would take the lead, 18-12, going into the halftime locker room thanks to a 7-1 run in the final three minutes of the first half.
Both teams began to wake up offensively coming out of the halftime locker room with the Lady Champs outscoring Eagleville, 17-16, in the third quarter to take a 35-28 lead going into the final frame. Meah Thompson got the scoring going for the Lady Eagles, scoring 12 of her 17 points in the third quarter alone, putting the backpack on for Eagleville to keep the visitors within striking distance.
In the final frame, Cascade outscored the Lady Eagles, 13-10, to take home the 48-38 home win. Kaegan Young put in eight of her 12 points in the second half, including finishing a perfect 6/6 at the free throw line. Sophie Ray and Caroline Parker each scored six points in the second half as well to help put away the visiting Lady Eagles.
Eagleville falls to 5-3 on the year.
Cascade improves to 3-3 on the season after snapping their three-game losing streak. Their next game is scheduled for Friday against Huntland at home, LIVE on The Zinger 100.9 and AM 1400 starting at 5:45 p.m.
