New T-G Office opens

Posted

Renee Brown says she’s always loved the Shelbyville Times-Gazette. So, it is only fitting that she would want to find a place to work within the newspaper.
Brown, the T-G’s new office manager, is already busy greeting Shelbyville Times-Gazette customers at the paper’s new location at 411 Elm St. (Office suites next to First Community Bank.)
“I’m really excited to have Renee on the team and to have an office in place once again,” Times-Gazette publisher Daniel Richardson said. “She has a great energy and will help us grow the newspaper to what it needs to be.
Brown, a Bermuda native, moved to Tennessee at age 12. She graduated from Cascade High School.
Following high school, she moved back to Bermuda. While she had family that lived in Bedford County, many of her family members still remained there.
There’s not a lot of square miles of land, she says, but it is home. Her father, she said, operated a charter boat business, so she was on the water a lot as a kid.
She later returned back to Bedford County and attended Motlow College. After another return to Bermuda, she married.
Brown has 2 children, which she reared in Marietta, Ga. She lived there about 25 years.
Again, 2 years ago, she found herself wanting to return back to Bedford County.
Primarily, for the last 25 years, she ran her own business and managed cargo claims for global freight companies. She considers it a very successful career but found herself needing a professional change.
“I think this is going to be a challenge for me,” said Brown. “I’m excited for it.”
The new T-G office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The T-G phone number is 931-684-1200. Mail correspondence to PO Box 380, Shelbyville, TN 37162.
