HOHENWALD, Tenn. – Annie Prince pitched a complete-game shutout, and the Community Viqueens (28-8, 7-0) took down District 10-AA Champions, Lewis County (16-9, 4-2), 3-0, on Monday night.
With the win, Community eliminates the Panthers in the Region 5-AA Semifinals for the second consecutive season. The Viqueens also eliminated Lewis County with an 8-2 home win in the 2025 Region 5-AA Semifinal.
Prince looked virtually unhittable all night long in another win-or-go-home situation, giving up just two hits and no runs in 7.0 innings with five walks while striking out an incredible 16 batters on 118 pitches.
Community slapped nine hits – all singles – against Lewis County ace, Brailey Carroll. Carroll shut out the vaunted Viqueens’ lineup for four innings, but then in the fifth, the visitors finally broke the seal and plated two runs. Community added one more insurance run in the top of the sixth to give Prince a 3-0 lead to work with from the circle.
Carroll pitched all 6.0 innings for the Panthers, giving up just three earned runs on nine hits and two walks with three strikeouts on 125 pitches.
At the plate for the Viqueens, Anna Haskins led off going 1-for-4, Kamryn Farrell was 0-for-4 with an RBI, and Mattie Maxey finished 1-for-3 with a walk. Gracie Daniel was 2-for-4 with a stolen base, Kailani Allen went 1-for-3 with a walk, and Prince finished 1-for-3. Alana Tate came through in the 8-hole going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base, and Hayden Moore finished 1-for-3. Community committed just a single error while the Panthers aided the Viqueens’ cause by committing four errors.
Community is now set to travel to Summertown for the Region 5-AA Championship on Wednesday night with first-pitch still TBD.
