SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Tennis team won both the Eaglettes (7-1) and Golden Eagles (8-0) home matches on Monday, 6-1 and 7-0, respectively.

SCHS Tennis Downs Marshall County 6-1, 7-0

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Tennis team won both the Eaglettes (7-1) and Golden Eagles (8-0) home matches on Monday against Marshall County, 6-1 and 7-0, respectively.

To start, both doubles pairs won 8-1. Sophie Ray and Lilly Smith took down the Lewisburg pairing of Olivia Farrell and Laike Perryman before Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson took down Andy Atkins and Johnny Palido.

With the doubles’ point won, both the Eaglettes and Golden Eagles went to work in their head-to-head singles matches. For the Eaglettes, Lilly Smith took down Olivia Farrell, 8-2, on Court 1. On Court 2, Addie Berry defeated Laike Perryman, 8-2, as well. Sophie Ray quickly took care of business on Court 3 against Maggy Phillips, 8-0. The lone loss was on Court 4, with Abby Thaxton falling to Amry Armengott, 8-5, but Kelsey Shatley took down Alanna Hopwood on Court 5, 8-0, to clinch the 6-1 win.

On the boys side, Henry Stone made quick work of Andy Atkins on Court 1 with an 8-0 win. On Court 2, Justin Spence prevailed in a battle with Bo Daughtery, 8-4, while on Court 3, Tucker Johnson swept past Johnny Palido, 8-0. On Court 4, Tanner Johnson pulled away from Dylan Lasater, 8-3, and Carter Watson did the same to Will Beasley on Court 5, 8-3. Paolo Mendoza also won his matchup with Jamari Ewing, 8-4, on Court 6.

The Eaglettes improve to 7-1 on the year while the Golden Eagles maintain their unbeaten start to the season, improving to 8-0 overall.  They both play again at home on Tuesday against Lincoln County starting at 4:00 p.m.
