FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. – After splitting against Stewarts Creek on Monday, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes (4-5, 4-2) and Golden Eagles (9-0, 6-0) split once again on Thursday, this time at District 6-AA foe Lincoln County.
First, the Eaglettes were swept for the first time this season, 7-0, against the Lady Falcons. In the doubles matches, Lilly Smith and Lydia Yoes struggled against Chloe Gibson and Maelea Robertson, falling 8-3 on Court One. On Court Two, Evony Smith and Jackie Juarez came up just short against Ella Morris and Saylor Hancock 8-6, and Jocelyn Morales and Georgia Frazier fell to Hadley Hardin and Davis 8-2 on Court Three.
In the singles matches, Lilly Smith fought to the finish against Gibson, falling 8-6 on Court One. On Court Two, Yoes lost to Robertson 8-3, and Evony Smith struggled against Morris 8-0 on Court Three. On Court Four, Juarez fell to Aubree Howell 8-2, and on Court Five, Juarez came up short against Hancock 8-4.
On the boys side, the Golden Eagles dominated the Falcons, 6-1. In the doubles matches, Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson made quick work of Zaki Lin and Jasaiah Mares on Court One, 8-0. On Court Two, Carter Watson and Tanner Johnson dispatched Nate Robinson and Cade Kimbraugh 8-1, and Daniel Hernandez and Ryan Jaykus took down Williams Thomas and Grantwhich 8-4.
In the singles matches, Stone made quick work of Lin, 8-1, on Court One, Tucker Johnson ran away from Mares 8-1 on Court Two, and Watson took down Robinson 8-3 on Court Three. On Court Four, Tanner Johnson fended off Kimbraugh 8-4, and Jaykus took down Sam Sanders 8-1 on Court Six. Hernadez came up short against Thomas, 8-4, on Court Five.
Shelbyville Central hosts Summertown on Friday at 3:30 p.m. before returning to district action against Coffee County on Apr. 7.
