SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – In a District 6-AA clash on Thursday afternoon, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles (7-0, 5-0) took down Franklin County 9-0 while the Eaglettes (4-3, 4-1) ran away from the Rebelettes 8-1.
First, the Eaglettes swept the doubles matches. Lilly Smith and Lydia Yoes outlasted Saddie Wells and Allis Glenn 8-6 on Court One, Evony Smith and Jackie Juarez blanked McClarin and Green 8-0 on Court Two, and Georgia Frazier and Jocelyn Morales beat Eden Kilgore and May Orr 8-4 on Court Three.
In the singles matches, Lilly Smith blanked Wells on Court One, 8-0, Yoes dispatched Glenn with relative ease on Court Two, 8-1, and Evony Smith beat Kilgore 8-2 on Court Three. On Court Four, Juarez outlasted Orr 8-6, Morales took down Eshita Patel 8-4 on Court Five, and Frazier fell to Glenn 8-6 on Court Six.
In the Golden Eagles’ doubles matches, Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson ran away from Williams Orr and Carter Rurl 8-1 on Court One, Carter Watson and Tanner Johnson took down Colton Cox and Lam Blerim 8-1 on Court Two, and Daniel Hernandez and Ryan Jaykus blanked Reed and Patel 8-0 on Court Three.
In the singles matches, Stone ran away from Orr 8-1 on Court One, Tucker Johnson blanked Karl 8-0 on Court Two, and Watson dispatched Cox 8-2 on Court Three. On Court Four, Tanner Johnson blanked Rurl 8-0, Hernandez outlasted Blerim 8-4 on Court Five, and Jaykus made quick work of Tristin Cornell 8-0 on Court Six.
Shelbyville Central travels to Smyrna for a non-district contest on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
