The body of a Shelbyville man was discovered Friday morning in Nashville and Metro police say Samuel Earl Rich is wanted for questioning in his death.
James William Warner, 22, was found by a utilities system work crew at the end of 35th Avenue North, Metro police said Saturday.
Warner had suffered a gunshot wound, police said. Metro detectives said they think Warner was driven to the Nashville area before being shot.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says Rich, 25, of Shelbyville shot a woman in the head early Friday at a Temple Ford Road home. The woman, whose name has not been released by authorities, is being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
A vehicle owned by one of the victims, which investigators say was stolen by Rich, was found Friday on Smith Chapel Road in the Raus area. A manhunt of the area which lasted late into the night proved fruitless.
Anyone with information on Rich’s whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest.
Rich is currently being sought on charges of attempted first degree murder and theft of property. He has not been charged in connection with the Warner death at this time.
“He should be considered armed and dangerous,” said the TBI, which is leading the investigation at the request of District Attorney General Robert Carter.
Rich stands 6 feet tall, weighs 165 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.
