CELINA, Tenn. – The Community Vikings (15-10, 3-5) wrapped up the regular season with a non-district win at Clay County (10-14, 2-6) from Class A on Friday night, 66-48, to complete the season sweep.

Community’s Charlie Haskins scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the first half while Andrew Tocchio connected on all five of the Vikings’ three-pointers en route to 17 points on the night.

For the Bulldogs, Warner Melton scored a team-high 16 points on four triples, and Nolan Adams added 10 points of his own to reach double-digits.

To start the game, Haskins scored six of Community’s 12 points in the opening period, leading the Vikings to a 12-7 lead at the end of one. In the second quarter, Haskins took over, scoring 11 of the Vikings’ 19 points en route to a 31-17 lead heading into the halftime locker room.

Coming out for the second half, Tocchio took the baton from his point guard, knocking down three treys, leading the Vikings to outscore the Bulldogs, 22-15, and take a commanding 53-32 lead heading into the final frame.

With the result a formality with eight minutes to go, Clay County outscored Community, 16-13, and knocked down four of their eight total threes in the fourth quarter alone, but the Vikings had built up too much of a lead to worry about a comeback attempt. Josh Powers scored four of his seven points early in the fourth, Tocchio connected on his final three-pointer, and the visitors held on to win by 18, 66-48.

Community finishes the regular season at 15-10 overall. The Vikings host Chapel Hill in the play-in game of the District 9-AA Tournament on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. for the right to take on Loretto in the District 9-AA semifinals on Friday.
