Charlie Haskins scored 18 of his team-high 21 points in the first half, Andrew Tocchio hit four three-pointers en route to 18 points, Johnathan Lawwel and Maddux Thompson scored 14 points apiece, and Karson Boyce chipped in with 10 points of his own in the rout. Community connected on nine three-pointers and went 16/22 at the free throw line as a team.
For Huntland, Ellis Stewart put in a game-high 23 points, Micah Tipps scored 15 points, and Grant Jernigan added 14 points in the defeat.
Hunter Ferrell’s Vikings took an early six-point lead, 21-15, at the end of the opening period behind Haskins’ 10 first-quarter points. Tipps connected on a trio of three-pointers to keep the Hornets within arm’s reach, but Community outscored the visitors, 24-15, in the second to take a 45-30 lead heading into the halftime locker room.
In the third period, the Vikings exploded for their highest-scoring quarter of the season, outscoring Huntland, 32-23, to balloon their lead to 77-53 heading into the final frame. For the visitors, Stewart scored 13 of his 23 points in the third while Jernigan added nine of his 14. Stewart and Jernigan relentlessly attacked the basket for all eight minutes, combining to go 12/16 from the free throw line in the quarter. Meanwhile, Community’s Thompson led the hosts with eight points in the frame.
In the fourth, the Vikings clamped down defensively, holding the Hornets to just six points in the period as the hosts scored 22 more points to reach their final margin of victory, 99-59. Tocchio hit all five of his three-pointers in the fourth quarter along with splitting a pair of free throws.
Community improves to 7-2 overall, and the Vikings are scheduled to close the week by hosting historical Class A powerhouse, Clay County, on Friday night in Unionville. The Bulldogs are coming off of a return to the state-sectional round from a season ago, but have started slowly in 2025-26 with a mediocre 3-4 record.
