CENTERVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Vikings (0-1) entered the first year under new head coach Hunter Ferrell at Hickman County (1-0) on Tuesday, falling 76-41 in the first game of the Hunter Ferrell era.
The Bulldogs had three players score in double figures, with Bradyn Brown finishing with a team-high 17 points, Tim Puckett scoring 16 points, and Will McDonald chipping in with 14 points of his own.
For Community, Charlie Haskins led the way with a game-high 19 points, and Josh Powers joined him in double-figures with 10 points on the night.
Hickman County took a 17-10 lead at the end of the opening period thanks to six points from Brown, five from Puckett, and four from McDonald in a balanced effort. For the Vikings, Powers led the way with five points, and Haskins connected on a three-pointer as well.
In the second quarter, Haskins scored six of the eight points for Community while the Bulldogs connected on three more triples to help grow the lead to 34-18 heading into the halftime locker room.
Coming out of halftime, Brown took over for Hickman County, leading the charge with eight points to go along with eight points from Puckett as well. Brody Worley connected on a pair of three-pointers for good measure as part of a 28-point third period that saw the Bulldogs take a commanding 62-34 lead going into the final frame. Haskins led the way with six points for Community.
The result was merely a formality in the fourth quarter as Hickman County outscored the Vikings 14-7 to reach the final margin of 76-41.
