Unionville, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (9-12, 1-3) welcomed District 9-AA foe, the Lady Rockets from Chapel Hill (10-10, 1-4), to Unionville as the Viqueens used a 21-point second quarter to propel them to a 56-41 win on Friday night.

Alyssa White scored a team-high 19 points while Brooklyn Yoes connected on a trio of three-pointers as part of her 11-point night. Sarah Flanagan, coming off of a 16-point performance against Cascade, was held to just eight first-half points.

For Chapel Hill, Kinslee Inlow exploded for a game-high 24 points on six three-pointers, and Sadie Smith added 12 points for the Lady Rockets. Josie Brown was the only other player to score, finishing with just five points.

To start off, Inlow connected three times from downtown to keep pace with Community’s more balanced attack in the opening period. At the end of the first quarter, the Viqueens clung to a one-point lead, 13-12.

In the second quarter, Community exploded for 21 points while holding Chapel Hill to just 12 points themselves. White took over, leading the way with 11 of her 19 coming in the second quarter, while Flanagan and Yoes both connected from downtown. Inlow tried to match White with eight points of her own, but Inlow went just 2/7 from the charity stripe, leaving five points on the floor. The Viqueens went into the halftime locker room with a ten point lead, 34-24.

Coming out for the second half, Community tightened the screws defensively, holding Inlow to just one three-pointer in the third quarter as the Viqueens outscored the Lady Rockets, 12-8, to extend their lead to 46-32 entering the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, Community connected on their free throws and outscored Chapel Hill, 10-9, to close out their first district win of the season, 56-41.

Community improves to 9-12 (1-3) and will travel to Huntland on Tuesday night with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.
