COALMONT, Tenn, – The Community Viqueens (9-16, 1-5) held a lead for the majority of the first half over the Grundy County Lady Yellow Jackets (10-12, 4-4), but ultimately ended up losing by nine points, 53-44. The Lady Yellow Jackets trailed for almost the entirety of the first half until Kasadee Crabtree connected on a free throw with 36 seconds left in the half to give Grundy County a lead they would never relinquish.

Mattie Maxey started the game for Community with a layup for two of her points. Teammate Alyssa White connected with two more buckets under the basket while Anna Haskin dropped in a three-pointer for nine of the Viqueens 13 points in the opening period. Community held Grundy County to just seven points, three of which came from Gracie Panter. At the end of the first quarter, Community held a six point lead, 13-7.

In the second quarter the Viqueens struggled to continue their strong offensive start. Grundy County almost tripled that by scoring 11 of their own, eight of which belong to Crabtree. She dropped in a two, a three, and a free throw all in the first three minutes of the quarter. Grundy County grabbed a one point lead heading into the locker room 18-17, and the Viqueens tied but never pulled ahead for the rest of the game.

Community came out of the locker room hot and Haskins drained two threes and a two pointer to add to White's six points for 14 of the Viqueens total 15 scored in the quarter. Viqueen White banked one of her two point jump shots with two minutes left in the third to tie the game at 28-28, but thats as close as Community got. Gracie Panter tagged three treys in the term for half of the Lady Yellowjackets 18 scored. At the end of the third period the score was still close, but Grundy County was still ahead 36-32.

Viqueen Maxey was 100% at the free throw line in the fourth, going 8-8, and she added in a layup for 10 of a total of 12 of Community's points, but Grundy County hit for 17 points in the period. They led in the last quarter anywhere between nine and 11 points until the final buzzer went off with the hosts on top, 53-44. Panter added four and ended the night with 17 points, including four three-pointers, and Crabtree ended with 10. White finished the game with 14 points while teammates Haskins and Maxey also collected double digits with 13 and 12, respectively. The Viqueen's ended shooting just 58% from the free throw line as a team.
