FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (7-3) took care of business early in a 15-0 win after three innings at Fayetteville City (1-2, 0-1) on Wednesday.
Ryleigh Lassiter got the start in the circle for the Viqueens, getting through the first inning without a single runner reaching base with one strikeout on 10 pitches. Kenzie Tucker came on in relief for the next two innings, striking out two batters while walking one and giving up zero hits on 17 pitches.
Community scored five runs in the first inning after Hayden “LuLu” Moore smacked a leadoff double followed by a triple from Kenzie Tucker. Arleigh Smith singled home another run to keep the hit parade going, but it was the second inning that the floodgates truly opened for the Viqueens.
In the top of the second, Lexi Smith singled home a pair of runs, Aliana Leverette walked in another run, Moore cranked a bases-clearing double to score three, and Victoria Wells singled home Moore for another run. In all, the Viqueens put together a 9-run second inning.
As a team, Community totaled 12 hits and drew five walks. They also took advantage of five errors by the Lady Tigers in the field.
At the plate for the visitors, Moore led off going 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Wells went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Lassiter batted 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI, and Tucker finished 2-for-2 with an RBI, a triple, and a walk. Lexi Smith went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, Taylor Harris batted 1-for-1 with a walk, and Arleigh Smith finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Addison Prince went 0-for-1 with an RBI and a walk, and Leverette finished 1-for-1 with one RBI and two walks.
Community hosts Cascade in the first ‘Battle of Bedford’ on Thursday in District 9-AA play with first-pitch set for 5:30 p.m.
